Strangely enough, there are numerous overlaps between my science fiction books, my textbook science books, and my scriptures. I know, who would have expected that? After all, science fiction is… fiction and the Gospel is non-fiction, so where do we find overlap? From our scriptures, we Latter-day Saints believe that God has created and peopled more than just our Earth. But there is more. According to Genesis, we know that man was made in the image of God, a pattern that we would expect Him to follow on other planets. Accepting this fact, we should fully expect aliens to look exactly like us. As we all know, science fiction is a great format for action books and adventure films. But science fiction is a unique genre because it also allows the author to put us into an environment where we are forced to look at our philosophies and beliefs in a completely different light.
